Augusta, Ga--With only one loss on the season, the Laney girls look poised to make another deep run in the state playoffs. Ranked number one in the state, and cruising right along.
Otis Smart's Wildcats blow teams out by pressing and shooting layups and threes in transition. The girls aren't shy about their goals. They fully expect to compete for a championship. Two years ago they won it all, giving coach smart his first title among his 800 wins. Several current players were part of that team so they know what it takes to get the job done.
"Practice is great. We've got great leaders. We've got 7 girls that were on the state championship team. We do our best to do what we can do." said Otis Smart
"The first part is to be region champs, so that's a good start going into the State finals and all that." added De'Sha Benjamin
"It would fee good. It would feel like I accomplished something going from my 10th grade year then winning it again my 12th grade year." said Aubriana Bonner
Laney is in region play for the rest of Jjanuary before tournament play starts in February.
