RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Twelve suspects in the stabbing death of 18-year-old Demajhay Bell will not stand trial together, and the trials are reportedly set to begin next week.

On Monday, Richmond County Superior Court Judge Michael Annis decided that the defendants will not be tried together because it would be impossible for a jury to sort through the details, evidence, and accusations to each of the accused.

Demetrius Lamont Harris, Michael Donnell Dean, Eyvette Lashaun Byrd, Tyteanna Larosie Thomas, Eddie Doneal Carter III, Ryheem M. Jobes, Terry L. Daniels, A'lexis Cain, Quiasha Henley, Quiauna Henley, D'aciea Byrd, and Myah Dunbar are facing murder charges after the stabbing on Chaps Lane on March 18, 2016.

Bell died in the hospital two days later. The fight was caught on cell phone video and showed one of the suspects, Demetrius Harris, stabbing Bell in the neck. The sheriff said even though Harris may have been holding the knife, all 12 were responsible in the “senseless death.”

Bond has been denied for Harris, the judge ruling he could pose a threat to the community.

According to Judge Annis’ office, it may be Thursday before a decision is made on how to divide up the cases. The district attorney’s office said that all of the cases were announced as ready, but it is unknown yet if one or more of the trials will actually begin next week.
