Highlights from Hollywood's Biggest Party, the Golden Globes

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (CNN/AP) -- The biggest names in movies and television gathered in Beverly Hills on Sunday for "Hollywood’s Biggest Party," the Golden Globe Awards.

The limited series and TV movie awards were divvied up between "The People vs. OJ Simpson," which won the category and brought Sarah Paulson another prize, and "The Night Manager," whose stars Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman, and Tom Hiddleston were all honored.

African-American stories and performers were well represented at the 74th Golden Globe Awards. Donald Glover won two trophies for his TV series "Atlanta,” "Moonlight" was named best motion picture drama, Viola Davis won best supporting actress for "Fences,” and Tracee Ellis Ross of "Blackish" was the first black woman to win best actress in a comedy series in two-dozen years.

Everyone saw "La La Land,” the musical won a record seven Golden Globes, including best musical or comedy, best actress in that category for Emma Stone, and best actor for Ryan Gosling.

The night's biggest speech, six minutes, came from Cecil B. DeMille award honoree Meryl Streep, who covered Hollywood, politics, the press, and the importance of empathy.
