AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Preston Overton has been missing since June 9th and is now presumed dead. His family is searching for him and will not stop until they find him.

"The first week Preston's father walked about 70 miles, the second week he walked about 30 miles. I guarantee you he's walked more than 125 miles" said Mrs. Overton, Preston's stepmother.

Mr. Robert Overton says no distance is too far for his son.

"All I want is my son, I want to lay him to rest. I need closure myself, my mind is just not right" said Robert Overton, Preston's father.

Since the day he went missing, they've been searching every corner for closure.

"In the woods, side of roads, we've checked old cemeteries, we went in a cemetery yesterday that was so old it had confederate and world war two soldiers in it."

Preston is presumed dead by investigators, but his family says they had a feeling that was the situation. He was last seen with Chad Garner, also known as DK, who was killed and thrown into a shed.

"When the second day came around and they found DK, we knew then, but we were praying that he was still alive. But after what they did to little DK, we knew in our heart.. We could feel it.. His dad told me he could feel it.. He knew that his son was gone."

With a month gone by and two suspects in custody for Garner's murder, the 28-year-old father is still missing.

"His kids are like y'all going to find Daddy? And I'm like, I wish I could."

Richmond County Deputies are still investigating the case, but still haven't found a solid lead for his whereabouts.

His father says he's taking matters into his own hands to solve the case.

"He is out there somewhere, I know he is."
