Second annual Aiken Electric Vehicle Show set for Saturday

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Car enthusiasts are in luck as Cafe Scientifique will host the second annual Aiken Electric Vehicle Show.

The car show will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 at Gyles Park, which is located adjacent to the City of Aiken Visitors Center and Train Museum at the corner of Park Ave. and Union St.

Organizers expect to display a variety of electric vehicles again this year, including the latest Tesla Model X. Other cars featured will be from BMW, Chevrolet, Nissan and Toyota, and other entries are pending.
The Major Sponsor is National Drive Electric Week and participants include the U.S. Department of Energy, ASE Certified Master Technician Cy Early, Sunrun Solar, Dumpster Depot, The Sierra Club, Bob Richards Chevrolet and more are expected.

Further notice will be given as other companies accept invitations to what is already becoming a major electric vehicle show in the Southeast U.S, according to a press release.

On hand will be live music, hot dogs cooked in a solar oven and several different electric cars for everyone to see!

Café Scientifique of Aiken, located in the old Aiken Post Office, is a place where anyone can come and explore the latest science and technology ideas, issues, and headlines.
