Buca di Beppo closing Augusta Mall restaurant

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- A local italian restaurant in the Augusta Mall is closing its doors.

Buca di Beppo, a family-style restaurant chain opened its doors in February 2012 near Macy's. The restaurant location formerly housed restaurants such as Spinnaker's Bar & Grill and The American Café.

According to a spokesperson for the Augusta Mall, the mall is nearly 100% leased and they are constantly in talks to bring new retailers to the mall. They would not disclose who would take over the Bucca di Beppo space at this time.

News 12 NBC 26 has learned some employees found out this week that the restaurant was closing, and some customers who had reservations had their reservations canceled.
